Pennsylvania SOL question

Can anyone help on this one? We live in PA.
My wife was given a (small claims) civil action notice for an unpaid cc bill filed by a collection agency. The notice was filed on 2/04/2004. Her case hearing is set for 3/11/2004.The last payment paid on this debt by her was 2/10/00. As I understand the SOL is 4 years for this type of debt in PA. My question is being that the notice was filed approximately 6 days prior to the time expiring on the SOL does this stop the SOL or extend it in any way or does it continue till the date of the hearing and can she still use the SOL in her defense? Also the collection agency did not contact her in any way before they filed the civil suit.
