I had a debt of 400.00 and now its 1,000 because I didnt pay it which I should of but money was not there. Well they sent it to a law office of upton cohen and slamowitz and they had a summons delivered and this is weird becuase I called the court and they had no record of it and there was no date on the summons. Well I called the law office and they told me I had to pay 30% now and I told them I couldnt but could pay something every month. That wasnt good enough for them. I quickly got myself in to a debt program and they were sending the law office payments every month which they recieved but did not apply to the balance. Well not I got a judgement letter in the mail saying there putting a judgement against me. I called my debt place and they got a hold of the law office and they were down right rude and would not accept anything but they admitted to getting my payments and there not apllying it to my balance. Well they told the person Im dealing with at the debt consolidation place that they are going to go ahead with the judgement and they are going to put 5% on the balance becuase a sheriff has to deliver it to me and I have to pay for that plus the law office said they are going to add on more fees so my balce goes up so they can get more money from me. Im stuck here becuase I thought they would work with my debt place. They are unreasonable! They will not listen to anything I say and they also told the debt place they need a copy of my paycheck. I said no way plus Im self employed. I am willing to work with them with a reasonable amount each month but they wont. Anybody have any advice? I don't know how judgements work, also my debt place told me that she thinks that there just trying to scare me beucase some of the things the law office was saying didnt make sense and by the way when you call the law office you dont talk to a lawyer you talk to a debt collector.
