Hello. I had an account with MBNA, it was a gateway computer that I purchased in 1999 for about $1500, stopped paying and account was charged off. Back in October, I received a letter (at my parents house) from NCO Portfolio Management that said they were taking me to arbitration for over $3,500. I went to see an attorney who wrote an answer for me, which now I see was stupid because the first line stated that it was regarding a computer I purchased. I had not validated this debt so wasn't this basically admitting it? He also sent them a validation request. I heard nothing until last month when they sent me a letter (also to my parents old address, despite the fact they had my current address) and in it, it had a computer printout with my name and social and a statement from the account, but no signature. They said I had a "STAY" until February 17. What should I do.... Attorney pi**ed me off so am handling this on my own. I have fairly good knowledge of the FDCPA and FCRA and think that there are violations here, but do not want to risk going to court. I have heard that the NAF (National Arbitration Forum) is a sham. Please advise. Thanks. Credit505 New Mexico
