Simple. These puke-spigots are 'alleging' indebtedness against you and 'all examination by knowledgeable parties, the debt appears to be SOL', a violation of FTC rules etc etc.

Nail them to the wall with every legal tool at your disposal. Assxxxx Acceptic Crap-o-ration is legendary for suing on time-barred debt, getting away with it because too many consumers are unaware of their rights and protections and this scumpany's abject blatant willingness to never, ever, play by the rules.
One might say there's federal law, state law, and Rufus "Bud" "The Dean of Bad Debt" Reitzel's law. The latter being the founder of this most interesting - to federal officials - little cabal of thugs hiding behind a corporate entity. At least, according to some wags.

Look, you must be fair. After filing complaints with FTC and your state AG against Assxxxx, please do give credit to the predatory law firm serving as Rufus' Schutsstaffel Shocktroops. Remember, no lawyer with any self-respect willingly devolves to the subterranean level of 'collections professional'.

File a nice letter with the Bar association and the Better Business Bureau, the better to educate other consumers who might have the dubious pleasure of documentary intercourse with this doubtless fine old veneral law firm.
