As far as I can tell, only one of my cc accounts is still owned by the OC and it has been assigned first to a CA and now to a lawyer firm in my state. The rest have been purchased by CA's and one of those has sent it to a different lawyer firm in my state. I don't know what to do. All my accounts are still in the SOL for my state and I'm getting nervous that I'll start getting sued. My goal is to ride out the SOL, but if I get sued and they can prove their case what are my options? I'm not in a position to make payments or to fight off several lawsuits. When accounts are sold to a CA do they usually have the documentation needed to prevail in court? I would never let them get a default judgement, but would I be able to find out ahead of court time if they had the documentation legally necessary to prevail?
