James & DixieDrifter- Yes...it's CAMCO I'm new here--so could somebody explain to me how this company can; falsely accuse my wife of having committed a crime? He said, our home lenders should have reported her, and the fact she now had credit cards was--"a violation of the Truth In Lending Act." He called twice--both times the conversation degraded as he began yelling, and then SCREAMING! I called back twice in an attempt to protest to his managers about his behavior--all I got was voice mail. The SCREAMER was the one to call back. He said that because we verified my wife's Social Security Number, and that we'd had two contacts, "that is all we need to proceed." He said, they had tried to settle for $900 (a lie--this is the first I've heard of this & I've been w/my wife since '96.' He said the debt was now over $2,000! I got a letter 5 days later--the bill--$2,452.90! As I've state I'm confused--he's broken many of the rules under the FCRA & FDCPA in so far as I can tell. However, this appears to be permissable because they are "Debt Buyer's" and not a CA??? Where's the Justice in that??? I know I'm going to be told not to worry, but the CAMCO caller was extremely intimidating. Yelling @ me with a ghetto accent, "Where's your wife Sir!" (repeatedly) I'm middle aged, partially disabled from a construction accident nearly 25 years ago. I was hospitalized at that time with bleeding ulcers from worry. Now after all these years with no problems...my ulcers are reactivated & I've been bleeding for several days. I appreciate all your help...I'm sure this thing won't be over easily. -Confused
