the car title must be in ur name in order for u to insure it. u can drive a bit with it in someone elses insurance and name and should u get caught, u might not be insured, done this with kids..if u buy the car..u will have to pay off whatever he owes. or if u pay him..and he doesnt pay off the note..they will simply take it frm u as stolen property.. i would be awful careful here..no one can dodge a repo man for 2 years. the lien is on the title. until the original person is paid off. to register it, u must have the original title which is in austin. once its paid..they send u the original showing no lien holders. u change it to ur name..they will come after u. why do u want to do this? u will get what u pay for. prolly much more than u paid for, is my guess.
