How To Validate Arbitration Award?

In an earlier post I mentioned an arbitration award
I received against MBNA. One poster (computerguy)
said I should "get my award validated first", before
MBNA gets their own arbitration award against me
validated.
How is this validation done? I am in California.
Do I need to initiate a lawsuit against MBNA in order
to have the award go into court and get validated?
Or is there some other procedure?
