I almost never recommend bankruptcy, but with $140,000 in credit card debt??? I'd take a bath in a hot second if I were you, and I'd do it before this new bankruptcy bill gets signed in to law or you are likely to be dead meat for a long time to come.
Don't walk, run to the nearest bankruptcy lawyer you can find.
Then once the bankruptcy is final, you can get it off your credit bureau records and start building credit again.

: I LOST MY JOB 1 1/2 YEARS AGO RAN UP $140,000 IN CREDIT CARD DEBT. HAVE BEEN PAYING MINIMUM PAYMENTS EACH MONTH BY GETTING CASH ADVANCES FROM OTHER CREDIT CARDS, I HAVE WORKED SEVERAL TEMPORARY JOBS BUT NOTHING PAID ENOUGH TO PAY MY BILLS.I DON'T WANT TO FILE BANKRUPTCY. I WANT TO KNOW IF CREDITORS WILL SUBSTANCIALLY REDUCE AMOUNTS I OWE, FOR CASH SETTLEMENT OR IF THEY WILL STOP CHARGING INTEREST IN HARDSHIP CASES. I HAVE ABOUN 12 DIFFERENT CREDIT CARD COMPANIES.
