late payment on my credit history due to bank

i'm in the NAVY,on submarines, i go out to sea on them for about three months at a time. i have an allotment(automatically takes the payment out of my paycheck by the bank i have the loan through) they had full power to take the payment out of my account but didn't. i've talked to the bank (navy federal credit union) many times about this situation and they say nothing can be done by them. i was wondering if i can fight this, put a letter of explanation on my credit report or have it removed. Any answers or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. thanks, justin davis
