The place to start is with his personal credit reports. You can get those through our *Credit Reports* section (the link is at left.) If there are outstanding lawsuit judgements, they will probably be listed on the reports. Also, if he has any of the paperwork from the lawsuits (e.g. a summons), and/or if he knows what courts he was sued in, then he can contact those courts and search for any judgements involving himself. This might require an in-person visit. Then he should carefully evaluate the "big picture," as far as how old the judgements are, the amounts, etc. He should be very careful about approaching the judgement creditors, especially if they start asking a lot of specific questions, such as where he works, what bank he uses for his checking and savings accounts, etc. The creditors may try to gather as much information as possible, to potentially start grabbing money via a bank account siezure and/or wage garnishment. So discretion and caution are a good idea. He might consider saving up a bit, to be able to offer a partial lump sum (e.g. $800 or $1000) when he first contacts the creditors, which might make them a bit more agreeable and patient about setting up a specific agreement for ongoing payments. Good Luck.
