I had a letter mailed to me by a lawyer concerning a credit card that I had when I was married. In the divorce decree my x-husband was to take care of the bill. However - I do not think that he did. The bill is 12 years old.
Should I contact the lawyer? How long an they collect on a credit card debt? Can they collect after 12 years? Will this be held against me since the card was in my name - even though he charged the total debt? What if my x won't pay it - should I pay it? If so - do I have to pay the whole thing at once or can I make payments?
