Georgia is NOT a "community property" state, so
as far as I know, you would be free and clear of
any of his individual debts (as long as you were
not a co-applicant.)

It seems like creditors might be able to demand
payment or partial payment out of your husband's
individual assets after his death. However, they
probably wouldn't take any kind of joint property,
like a house, due to the major hassle involved
(including the issue of it were partly yours.)

The amount of effort a creditor will take to recover
a debt generally depends on the amount.

Be careful about sleazy collectors possibly lying
and claiming that you are personally responsible.

Please note that I am NOT an attorney, and nothing
here should be taken as legal advice. If it looks
like you may be in this type of situation in the
near future, and if the debts are substantial,
then you may want to consult a lawyer.

Good Luck.
