Thanks, Why Chat. Catballou, I think the mix up happened because I relocated from one state to another and I simply let my insurance lapse and was too lazy to renew. My insurance had JUST lapsed, so FMCC probably hadn't noticed it yet. I had been late a few times just before the accident and I KNEW immediately that I had to secure another car loan before this eventual charge off made it on my CR. THANK GOD I found this forum before I paid the CA any more money. The CA sent me phoney court papers, etc. - I have no judgements on my CR, but they tricked me into thinking they took me to court, thus the reason I made the monthly payments. I believe FMCC screwed up and they had no real recourse since they didn't make sure the car was insured at all times. When it got totalled, they did nothing but charge it off and NOW they want to call it a repo and re-age it.
