They are third party collection agents trying to collect on old accounts. Your original creditors either assigned or sold your accounts to CAs.
Your best strategy is to IGNORE CAs. They will lie and threaten. They use scare tactics to extract money from you. Don't believe a word they say. Mostly it is just bull!! Best let the machine pick up, watch caller ID The phone is their tool, take it away from them. When was the last time you paid the original creditors on these accounts? And what state are you in. You could be passed SOL which means that they accounts are not legally collectible.
