If a debt is past the statute of limitations, then you have what is called an affirmative defense and grounds for dismissal.

Best thing to do if contacted by an attorney on past sol debt is to send the letter from WhyChat's website.

If they file a past sol lawsuit and you don't raise the defense right away, you lose the right to do so.

This is something you use to stop them from getting a judgment or to stop them from suing you. Some lawyers will try anyway- see other postings here- but they can be defeated in court.

Try to stop it before it turns into a lawsuit.IF it is too late for that either hire an attorney or follow Whychat's instructions on the site.
