Technically, the CA should have received all files (including information regarding the method of payment) from the OC. It's possible that the CA doesn't have a record of your current bank account information, but don't take any chances if you can help it.

In Illinois, a CA can file suit then file an "ex parte" motion to freeze assets *before* you're ever served with the summons! The rationale is that you (or your husband) could move those assets before they can determine if any of them are actually yours and subject to garnishment.

They can't actually *take* any of the money until a judgment is entered and a writ of garnishment is issued, but unfortunately your outstanding checks will bounce like little rubber balls...and you won't have access to the money in the account until you go before the court. Not good.

Take Tazi's advise and move your money, if at all possible. Freezing assets is one of the tactics CA's use to gain leverage over you. Time is on their side when your mortgage and food money is locked down.
