The FDCPA IS the law. However, it does NOT FORCE the collector to validate, in fact, they never HAVE to validate - they can go away and do nothing, BUT, they MUST CEASE ALL COLLECTION ATTEMPTS until they DO validate - and that includes reporting to the CRA's (considered collection activity by the FTC). THAT is what the FDCPA says. So, if you send your validation letters and the CA continues to harrass you, they are violating the law - and you can SUE THEM for it !
