HOW is a 544 a horrible score? It's not a 600 but it is not horrible...I have ONE debt, a credit card which is like $200 over limit, I have paid off 3 large debts, each over $3000 each in 2 years to get myself where I am today. I paid off my car, and now I am paying off my last debt. I have been a single mom for 8 years and making $25k a year GROSS so I was not seeing all of that and no child support so give me a break. I was told by 3 LENDERS that I am a candidate for a mortgage, they would just like me to get my score up over 550 which is 6 points! I have $6k saved so far and now I am married and my husband makes over $40k but we only want a small starter house. I have seen rough times and that credit card put food in our mouths and a roof over our heads. Some people have no choice and I had perfect credit, got divorced and killed that BUT I paid it all off...I used the money, I made the debt and I paid it off. Some people never pay their debts but I tried to do the right thing. I just wanted some advice on how to raise my score a few points. By the way I am getting a good rate, 7.85% at 95% financed which is not bad considering my past.
