Always be sure to carefully check the language of the letter. I, like most people here, have received many of these "escalation" letters, always getting a little scarier each time.

If it states they WILL sue you then its something to be worried about, but if they say something like "we may be forced to consider legal action" or something like that then its not time to get a lawyer.

They always threaten you with the 5 days or "by this friday" type of scare tactic, but if you dont have the money you are best waiting until you feel sure that they are really heading to litigation, unless you want to spend the $$$ to ask a lawyer to read the letter for you and respond to them.
