If there has been NO activity on the case for a year, you can file a motion for dismissal with prejuidice. Get a lawyer to do it for you, as in SOME Courts the Judge may hassle you if you are pro-se and there was any indication of a legitimate claim.

By the way, "activity" includes requests for interogatories, motions to file for discovery, or motions YOU may have made.
