As you mentioned, just make sure that the Original creditor puts in writing that they will accept the $1500 as payment in full and that they agree to remove the entire lien.

If you get this in writing you will be OK. You'll have to come up with the $1500 though. They probably won't take payments, and if they do, they won't remove the lien until you've paid it all.
