Cease Collection Letter

I fired off an SOL letter to Asset Acceptance on old debt (DOLA 6/99), and included a cease and desist at the end (except, of course, to notify me that they are ceasing collection activity, blah blah blah).

Anyways, I'm curious -- has ANYONE ever received a letter from Asset (or any other CA, for that matter) stating that they are ceasing collection activity? Or do they kinda just give up? Or in Asset's case, do they just say "screw it" and sue you anyway?
