Outside of filing suit against the "friend" for stealng your $$, I do not know any way you can return to the US and not face the music, especially on your student loans, (which are forever). In a few years your defaulted credit card debts MIGHT be beyond the SOL, unless of course, your "friend" also neglected to tell you that default judgments were entered against you.
