You sound pretty young, so I will try to be patient.

You WILL NOT get rid of this blemish on your credit, or stop being hounded by collection agents if you try to "settle" with them.

The CA in Ca. who is bugging you now probably has NO proof that will hold up in Court for a lawsuit against you.

Unless your credit report shows that you have assets and a good job no one is going to sue you anyway.

You likely got the MBNA card as a preapproved card and NEVER actually filled out and signed an application, in which case the SOL in Ca. is 2 years and is PAST.

If there were a legitimate claim W & A would have pulled their "arbitration" stunt on you.

I would bet that your debt is well under $5,000. which means it is not worth while to even try to do anything more than scare you.

If this is your only bad debt, and most likely your only credit card, you should start reading about ways to improve your credit and stop being such a wuss.
