I am not sure.

IF your account was "brought up to date" in 2000, and then kept open for continued payments since then without any permanent assinment to an outside collection agency, I would have to guess that YOUR first default (start of SOL for purposes of credit reports) would have been sometime in 2000.

However, Va. is one of the FEW States that starts it's LEGAL SOL from the last payment or charge, so I think you would have a hard time proving any LEGAL SOL unless you stopped paying.

It IS possible to claim "constructive breach" on the part of the creditor IF they changed the terms of your account, which it appears they did when they required the account to be closed.

In THAT scenario, your SOL would start from that phone call that put you into a breached contract.( breached by the creditor as the accont was closed)
