I Had a account with Providian, who sold it to Acceptance Assests. The original debt was $746, but Asset says I owe them $938.00, I tied to get Them to settled For 50% paid at the end of March,but they wnated $500. by the end of February, They promised to give me a paid in full on my credit report, which I got in writing. but i changed my mind after finding out about this site, I read some where that these collection agencies buy these debts dirt cheap; anywhere from 1-5% on the dollar. that means the brought my dept for roughly $35.00 Is it really true that they buy these debts so cheap, if so ill be damm if i give them $500. Whats your take on this?
