Why is requesting validation BEFORE SOL a mistake (I got NCO)

Why do you guys say it's a mistake to request validation of debt before the S.O.L.? I did this with the infamous NCO and never heard from them again. They immediately sold the thing and backed down.

It seems to me that if we just ignore them then they will think we could be easy prey, but if we hit them hard with a ton of paperwork they would see we can't be messed with.

It seems that Keyser and JKelly both agree with Why Chat all the time, but Keyser says to hit 'em with everything and JKelly says to just ignore them.

Which was is right?

And it seems like ignoring them could cause them to think they can march over you. Isn't the goal to PREVENT a court date?

Thanks,

Mark C.
