Use Caller ID to screen your calls. If you send a cease and desist letter while within the SOL they may sue. You can try to negotiate a deletion of all tradelines and a promise not to sell or assign the balance *if* you decide to settle, but from my experience and those of others on this board, MCM does *not* play nice. They will take your offer and try to use it against you.

Determine when the SOL began on this account by looking at your statements. When was the *last* payment you made while the account was current? The statute should begin to run on the first payment missed after that if you never caught up.

It looks to me that Missouri has a five year SOL for credit card accounts. You just have to ride out the SOL without getting sued. The tradelines on your credit report will drop off two years after that.
