That is exactly how that works, as long as they are reputable, and give you a letter saying that it has been taken care of, keep a copy of the check also. If they don't fix it on your credit you can submit the settlement letter, and the check to prove it has been taken care of. also, make sure they send you a letter saying that it has been taken care of.
