Why Chat always posts it every five days in the *NEWCOMERS* post.

Opting out will NO prevent you from getting anything other than pre-approved offers of credit. It will also prevent your creditors/CA's from getting updated information about you automatically.

And just because the five year LEGAL statute expires doesn't mean that the tradeline will disappear from your credit report. It will take seven years for it to drop off if you do nothing. Maybe less if you successfully dispute them. But you do *not* want to dispute tradelines if you're still within SOL. Save any disputes for when you are beyond the SOL so that you don't alert the CA's that you're looking for credit.
