I'm going to be applying for a mortgage soon so I'm trying to clean up my credit report. I guess my question to everyone is how bad is bad? I have a bunch of late payments but nothing too recent (over two years old). I was late on my student loans by 120 days two years ago but haven't had any problems since. There are two charge-offs that my ex-husband was supposed to pay but they come off this summer. The debts I got in the divorce are all paid off now. I had two medical bills that went to collections before I paid them (I didn't know they existed until I got my credit report). What's a bummer is that I've been paying rent, utilities, medical bills, etc. every month for ever and a day and none of that shows up on the report. Are there really ways to get things off your report, even if you were late? Sorry this is so long. Any advice is appreciated!
