Oh, yes. If they get a judgment, they can wait until you *do* have assets to make a claim. But taking bankruptcy for a $7500 debt may not be your best option.

Given that you're without a job or assets right now, undoubtedly you'd be eligible for legal aid of some sort. See if you can get an attorney to help you.
