I think Sunkissed meant well, but she works in the collection industry and has a little different approach to things.

I'm sure you can't feel much worse than you already do, so please don't beat up on yourself. You couldn't have known that the account would be frozen if you've never had cause to study the laws surrounding debt collection. Save your energies to find a way out of this mess.

I know you say you can't afford a lawyer, but you truly do need one. What you really need to do is to somehow file a motion to vacate the judgment. Once the judgment is voided, the order to freeze assets will *have* to be lifted because it will be as if the judgment or garnishment order never existed.

Please check with the clerk of the court, because there *may* be a pro se "help desk" at the court who can help you with the forms and the correct procedure. I know there's such a thing here in the Chicago area.
