this is a good lesson for all of us. i know u feel bad. i wouldnt have known things either a few years ago. but..anything your name is on..IS A ASSET. in bankrupcty..in applying for food stamps..in medicaid. a burial plot is a asset. a car thats paid for. anything. you were, like i would have a few years ago, assumed hey its my moms..they cant touch it. trouble is..they dont know whose money is there and many would have done that to hide assets. you have access to the money. i almost said all lawyers r scum and then thought what am i saying??? lol. my cousin is a judge. some lawyers sure will play dirty. they expect u to turn in ur own kid for 50$. (long story but been there) you are just learning the hard way, as i have. a asset is anything that can be turned into money or used for money. any accounts..anywhere..with your name on it. which is why i tell others ..a judgement is for the future. someone may have nothing NOW, but give it 5 or 10 years and they will get it. im sorry and i hope she doesnt lose her money. its how the law works hon. take nothing for granted. it takes a tremendous amount of work to undo something done. ..hugs*
