I ignored CAs UNTIL I WAS SERVED. When I was actually served and I knew I was going to court, I called my attorney immediately. I had a lot of debt, so bk was my choice. I had other choices though. Require validation, basically, you are making them prove all charges, make they prove that they have the legal right to sue, make they prove that they own the account, make them prove all charges and interest, and make them prove that all of this is legal in your state. There is a good chance that the CA can not provide all of this proof, and they will not show up in court, which means your attorney can have the case dismissed. These CAs win on default most of the time. When it comes right down to it they don't have doodly. It's a risk, but that is my 2 cents. Good Luck.
