If I wanted to avoid having to go to court with MBNA's lapdog collection agencies (Wolpoff referred case to Upton, Cohen, & Slamowitz), and they have not received any payment from me on a $5000+ debt in almost two years and have not had any contact me but still went through with their bogus rigged arbitration, any ideas on what percentage I should try to pay off in a lump sum ....and is it to my benefit to negotiate myself or should I hire an attorney (which may end up negating part of my savings) ?? Does anyone have any actual experience with these collection agencies and can suggest what they may be willing to accept considering I have no home, car, bank account or any assets they could seize or anything? I just want to try to avoid bankruptcy filing if I can possibly repair my credit through settlements...I need to know asap...I appreciate any advice.
