Whatever you do do NOT let them make you think that you must make an arrangement "immediately" or "within 5 days." By law you have 30 days to respond. I've had various collectors try and convince me that I have to give them an answer right away and when I ask them to send me something in writing they always try to convince me that it must be done RIGHT THEN or they will sue. They do everything they can to avoid the truth which is that they have to send me something in writing that states who they are and what the amount of the debt is, etc. One sleazy company reluctantly agreed to send me something (angrily) because they didn't want me to see the 30 day right that I have on any attempt to collect. Did they write you something first or is this call the first contact? Whatever you do, do NOT let them intimidate you that you have to agree to any payment arrangements immediately. That is their real goal. Keep posting questions here and find out all you can in the meantime. Good luck ME
