SOL Letter? Asset sued anyway...

State: Virginia
OC: Providian
CA: Asset Acceptance
Lawyer: Shenandoah Legal Group
DOLA: April 1999

Asset had been sending me letters for a while now, all of which I ignored. In early January, I received a letter from Shenandoah Legal demanding payment in full or else they'd recommend suit to Asset. I responded by sending SOL letters to both Asset and Shenandoah, CRRR. I received both receipts about a week or two ago.

Today in my mailbox I found a summons to appear in court on April 5th. I'm being sued by Asset Acceptance for a time barred debt.

Needless to say, I'm freaking out. Do I get a lawyer? I have old hardcopies of old credit reports showing the date of last activity. Is it possible for me to go to answer this in such a way that court can be avoided? I've heard of people filing answers to lawsuits. I have no idea how to do this.

Help!
