Here's why the FDCPA violations are so bad for CA's

I've heard some people (usually CA websites) that a $1,000 fine is no big deal if the CA's are going after big money like $10k+. But I spoke to a credit attorney who used to have MBNA as one of his clients and he told me that the REAL fear of the FDCPA violations is not the $1,000 fine (per violation) but the can of worms this opens for the law firm/collection agency. This would open them up to a class action lawsuit which means, guess what? -- their books by LAW must be opened for the authorities to see so that it can be documented just how many times they did this very same thing (and other things) to OTHER people.

Don't shy away from these guys if they are violating the FDCPA.
