They are a 'commonwealth' state, whatever that means...

can Whychat or one of the regulars who 'may' be attorneys clarify this?

I know that in Virginia, every address is considered a 'courthouse district'. For example, my dad visits his ladyfriend in VA and from what I can derive from him, addresses are courthouses' extensions. Your town is a 'couthouse', for eg. Powhatan, which is a miserable little shithole about 40 miles W. of Richmond has a vast county base of many shopping centers, malls, housing developments, etc. But if you live in Powhatan, you report to jury duty there, pay your tickets ther, etc.

I don't profess to know anything about Virginia, 'cause I don't, but Florida is a different case. In FL any summons to make an actual appearance in a coutroom would require a PERSONAL delivery, not an asshole I-glued-a-stamp-on-so-that-prooves-it-got-there mentality. A bitch/manbitch would have to COME TO YOUR DOOR and PERSONALLY HAND YOU and appearance date, otherwise everything is just MUTE!

My advice is not professional but of experience, and I sincerely hope that I have helped.
