A collection starts on your credit report 5/96.

You pay it completely on 3/2002.

When your credit report is pulled on 3/2004 the collection for $5,675 from ACME will be there on your CRA, when you try to buy a car, used car, house, get a job, etc.

Now, let's say you never paid a dime on that shittin' collection. The collection starts on your report 5/96. You have never paid a goddamn dime and now... guess what? it's 2004 !!! Geee, it's been 7 years! Pull your credit report, what does it say? Uh OH, that collection isn't on it, is it? Why not? Because it's been 7 years.

Now let's suppose you have been on/off paying these bloodsucking assholes for a couple months. The derrogatory from 3/96 dissapears from your reports about now. But guess what? You have a goddamn active collection on your report, stuck on your report for the next 7 fuckin' years!

Does this sound right? Does this sound just? NO.. What to do? What to do? NOTHING, JUST CRY ABOUT IT

Because the truth is, it hurts you, because, now, even though the 'derrogatory' is gone from your CRAs, the collection account is still there.

When the creditors pull your report, they don't get all the fancy 'bells & whistles' that you get. They get a stream of statistical data. THEY decifer it. THEY decide what is good and what is bad. If they see a bunch of shit on your report, they will assume the worst. TIME is also everything. A 6 month old debt carries a thousand times more weight than a 2-3 year old debt. Especially if you are YOUNG and have recently been in college and have student loans. (YOU ARE EXPECTED TO START MAKING $$$$$ IN SHORT FUTURE).

This new world is an uncaring, unfeeling world. You are nothing but a number on a tape drive in some bank. I would give you some good advice if I had some, but I'm afraid you have to think for yourself on this. You can hire an attorney that will take 1/3 of your cash if you want, maybe that is the best option. That seems to be what everyone here usually suggests. Perhaps here there are mostly consumer attorneys?

Don't hit me for being honest.
