You will not reset the SOL by making a payment to a CA, however YOU WILL cause yourself more problems than it is worth. The CA will most certainly pursue you once you stop paying, and MAY file suit, even if you send a SOL letter. Plus you run the risk of being sued in a Court where your actions in paying, while LEGALLY not binding, (see post above) may get you a judgment from a Judge who does not have patience with a pro-se debtor, who has in the Court's eyes admitted to the debt.

By the way, this has NOTHING to do with "tolling" which is a different issue altogether.
