I could receive mail anywhere, that doesn't make me a resident.

Each state has its own general residency requirements. Its usually a list of several conditions that must apply before you're actually considered to be a resident of that state.

The thing is not re-aging of the SOL, but the fact that you being out of your usual state of residency will TOLL the SOL there - meaning it halts while you're out of state temporarily.
