so far..very smart. im sure others will be along to see something i didnt. we all have been stupid with credit cards. they r the worst idea anyone ever came up with. anything your name is on..they can go after in court. i dont care if YOU know its your moms..or someones..the creditor and the courts dont know that. and they will freeze it. and its a huge legal time consuming hassle to untangle it. i think your doin exactly what i would tell you. leave a little money in a checking..use cash..get your name off everything..and file BK in a year or 2. i agree..hopefully MANY years or they will get some of her money in a judgement. i dont know in your state, but texas it is 10 year renewable. i did send mine a "do not call at work" letter..and i wish you well in the next few years. try to see why you got into this debt and learn to live on cash within your means. . hon im 51 and learning this now. wish i had known it at your age! its just too easy to live above your means with credit. i dont handle it well and good credit was my downfall. hugsss to your mom too! good luck!
