Back taxes and bankruptcy

I have lived in the state of Utah for the last 12 years and have paid taxes the last 8. I NEED to file chapter 13 (I have some disposable income and I do not want to disclose my assets). The thing is I know the federal bankrutcy court checks for unpaid back taxes (I know it does State taxes dont know if federal). Problem is of the 12 years living here the last 8 years I filed and there was no problem. How far the court can search back for unpaid taxes?
