If that's true then your lawyer was a complete moron ! NO collection activity, not even a foreclosure, can go forward once the automatic stay is in place. Doesn't matter if they claim they weren't notified, as soon as they find out that you have filed, all action MUST stop. The ONLY way they could have continued is if they filed a motion for relief from stay with the BK court and got it.
