The catch here is whether or not you FILED returns for the missing 4 years. Federal taxes can be discharged if they are more than 3 years old AND a tax return WAS filed. If you failed to ever file a tax return, you're on the hook even with the IRS.

How do you know they BK court looks for unpaid back taxes ?? They don't usually have the time and/or staff for such searched but something like that is SUPPOSED to be on your statement of financial affairs and your schedules.

Bad news.. even in a Ch 13 you're going to have to disclose assets. They can't take anything, that's the biggest point of a Ch 13 - to protect assets, but all your assets must still be on your schedules.
