Look, forget embarassment. They've violated fed rules by so doing. Write them up to the FTC, write the CA kindly offering to sue for defamation of character, among other violations, and then - do it.

Have your relatives who were contacted sue for harassment, distress, slander.

Remember, as brought out on this board by fine astute friends, the $1,000 damages are trifling, but the real threat to CA's is they must, when sued, open their cooked books to the court. Just what they dread. That's why they try to humiliate consumers any way they might.

Criminals do to others that which they most fear.
