Do point out they're not licensed

I'm a bit rushed this morning so I'll be mercifully brief--

As I understand, they've already sued you. If so, put in a counterclaim for whatever FDCPA/NY violations they have committed, including not being licensed. Check and make sure that attorneys don't have an exception to the licensing requirement.

Obviously, if they're out of state lawyers acting on behalf of a client, tell the court they're not licensed. This will be most interesting to the court and possibly to the police.

However, this may not render them without standing to sue. Standing means essentially that the suer has a real dog in the fight, and if they purchased an actual valid debt, then they do. If it's out of the SOL, definitely raise that.
